Double Sunrise is a series of interviews with the staff of the Hadassah hospital in Jerusalem, filmed in the summer of 2020, during the Covid 19 pandemic.
The artist, who was both born and gave birth to her children in Hadassah hospital, chose to created a piece together with the staff of the maternity ward.
The staff were asked to describe throughout the piece sunrises they have seen (or missed) from inside the hospital, as well as sunrises that have been engraved in their memory.
The backdrop to these interviews is a 41 minute sunrise filmed from the maternity ward windows.
The piece was installed in an information booth in the entrance to the ER of the Hadassah Mount Scopus hospital as part of the Jerusalem Festival, and was on view for hospital workers and patients, during the nights of the festival.
Link is an excerpt of 8 minutes from the piece.
The piece was part of Israel Festival’s project “Institutional Routine”
and a collaboration with the Women and Maternity ward at the Mount Scopus Hadassah hospital.
