Double Sunrise 2020

Video installation and site-specific intervention

Created during the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic, "Double Sunrise" is a video installation presented at The Jerusalem International Festival. Filmed at Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem in the summer of 2020, the piece features interviews with hospital staff and maternity ward workers.

The participants were asked to describe sunrises they had seen or missed from inside the hospital, as well as memorable sunrises. These interviews are layered over a 36-minute sunrise filmed from the maternity ward windows.

The installation was placed in an information booth at the ER entrance and was accessible to hospital workers and patients as part of the festival’s “Institutional routine” project. The artist was born and gave birth to her children in this hospital.
